Measurement Notes
- Height is measured from the top of the action/receiver to the bottom of the scope tube at the mounting location.
- Hole spacing is measured center to center.
- Extended rings are typically used with long or magnum-length actions and shorter scope tubes. The front mount is offset approximately 3/8″.
Choosing the Correct Ring Height
Stack shims, such as coins, washers, or magnets, to determine the desired scope height. Confirm the height does not interfere with bolt-handle operation, then measure the shim stack. For assistance, contact Talley technical support

Torque Recommendations
- Ring Cap Screws:
Tighten to 17–20 in/lb. Do not exceed the scope manufacturer's torque limits. Verify the maximum allowable torque to prevent damage to the scope tube.
- Mounts to Action:
Torque depends on the receiver. Contact T/C Firearms
to confirm allowable torque. Use a calibrated torque wrench. Talley Manufacturing is not responsible for damage to scopes or firearms caused by over-torquing.
Loctite Recommendations
- Loctite may be used on receiver screws when necessary. Do not use anything stronger than Loctite Blue 242. Loctite is not recommended for ring screws. Always test fit before applying Loctite.
